"rights-ready" license

What is rights-ready? What are the benefits?

Rights-ready is a new way to license high-quality imagery from Maniki Photo Agency. It's fast and flexible with simple pricing.

Simply select one or more of the broad use categories, and the assigned end client can use the image for any need within the selected use category or categories.

Rights-ready offers you:

High-quality, rights-managed-caliber imagery
Simple, one-click licensing typically associated with royalty-free
Cost-effective, flat-rate pricing
Broad and flexible rights – no need to define precise license details
Long license period – fewer administrative hassles

Why is Maniki Photo Agency introducing another license model?

For years, royalty-free and rights-managed were the only available licensing models, even in cases where neither was appropriate for a project's needs. Rights-ready is an innovative way for you to license high-quality, rights-managed-caliber imagery from Maniki Photo Agency, with the ease of licensing and pricing typically associated with royalty-free.

How is rights-ready different from rights-managed?

Rights-ready offers you broad use categories with flat-rate pricing. The license is tied to an end client who can use the image for any need within the selected use category or categories.

Rights-managed images are licensed on a use-by-use basis. The fee for using the image is calculated from several factors including size, placement, duration of use and geographic distribution. Exclusive rights are also available for purchase for some rights-managed images.

How is rights-ready different from royalty-free?

Rights-ready offers you broad use categories with flat-rate pricing. The license is tied to an end client who can use the image for any need within the selected use category or categories. There is no need to select a file size or define precise license details.

Royalty-free images may be used multiple times for multiple projects, regardless of use. Royalty-free pricing is based solely on the file size of the product you need and the number of people entitled to use it (maximum 10).

Can the rights-ready images also be licensed under rights-managed or royalty-free?

No, you can only license the rights-ready images under the rights-ready license model.

Can I purchase exclusivity on rights-ready images?

While exclusivity cannot be purchased on rights-ready images, you may contact us to inquire about a total image buyout.

Is the license only for the end client?

Yes, the specified end client can use the image for any need, within the selected use category or categories.

What is the definition of ‘end client’?

End client is defined as the product, service, corporate campaign or publication for which the image or clip will be used.

What is the duration of the rights-ready license?

The specified end client can use the image for 10 years, for any need, within the selected use category or categories.

How do I license an image for more than one use category?

Simply select ‘Add to cart' from one or more of the use categories in the rights-ready price table.

What type of imagery is in the collection?

This is a broad collection of high-quality, rights-managed-caliber imagery and is designed to support a wide variety of image concept needs.

How often are new images added to the rights-ready offering?

As we are committed to offering you the freshest and most relevant content, new images are added on a regular basis.

How do I search for rights-ready images?

When you are searching on the Maniki Photo Agency site, rights-ready images are returned as part of the default search results. In addition, you can search specifically for rights-ready images by selecting the rights-ready check box on the search customization panel.

How do I download a purchased image?

You can download a purchased rights-ready image using the same process by which RM and RF images are downloaded today. For more details on downloading images, please refer to our Help section.

What file size will I receive?

All rights-ready images are high-resolution files similar to rights-managed image resolution specifications.

Do the rights-ready images have model/property releases?

Release information is provided for each image. Simply click on an image in search results and you'll be shown an image detail page including release status and other information.

What is your return policy?

If you need to return a purchase, please contact your local Maniki Photo Agency office. Purchases are considered final after 30 days. Service fees are nonrefundable.

As a reminder, there are penalties for unauthorized use of images or other Maniki Photo Agency products. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact your local Maniki Photo Agency office.

How is a rights-ready license different than a rights-managed Flexible License Pack (FLP)?

Rights-ready licenses do not require territory or industry information. Rights-ready licenses have a 10-year duration.

What if I'm producing a brochure and would like to place a PDF of the finished piece online?

Rights-ready includes PDF rights of your finished piece within the Printed Marketing Material or Product/Packaging use category, at no additional cost.

What if I'm using the image on a digital billboard or display, like a plasma screen?

Digital billboard or display usage is included in the Print Ad or Display category.

What if I'm using an image inside of a printed book, and would like to offer the book electronically?

Within the Editorial section of the price table, select both the Inside Placement or Back Cover use category and the Web or Electronic or Broadcast (Editorial) use category.

Do I have to relicense the image if I first use it for an inside placement in a printed book, magazine or newspaper, then produce different editions?

Yes. The rights-ready license applies to a “single issue or edition and all reprints or printed versions of the original use”. While each new edition requires a relicense, you do not have to relicense the image for reprints or different versions of the same edition.
